Well, you asked that the other thread not turn into a debate. And I wanted to debate about evolution. So here it is. I think evolution is a very good theory and I don't see why people get so upset about it.

Well my opinion is that there is no way to know for sure. There is evidence pointing to both, to be honest, and it's too complicated for me to think about what might be true. But, I tend to agree with disbelievers of evolution in most cases.

I'm (obviously) a disbeliever. Science isn't always fact. Math(without mistakes) is fact though. And I've seen mathematical article that have disproved evolution. It's also contradicting with a God. Some say both go together, but if you do some research, you know it's impossible. I'm a strong Christian and evolution makes much less sense then the Bible. It makes me "upset" because I see it as a lie that deceives many.

i'd like to see a bit of biblical evidence saying evolution is wrong?
It bothers me when I see people trying to remove evolution from school curricula and passing it off as "heresy." Whether or not you agree with it, it's still good to understand the theory.

Yes, I agree that it's goof to understand the theory. I think most people do not know enough about it, so it makes it actually harder to discuss with them. Well, Biblical evidence is that the earth is according to the Bible only 6000 years old or so, and not the 4.5 billion(which is actually mathematically speaking still too short for evolution to be plausible. In this short article I wrote I mention some contradictions with the Bible and Evolution: stefan.bwns.be/articles/evolution.html

Questions: In what part of the Bible can you specifically find that the earth is 6000 years old? Have you ever heard of epigenetics? It's a newer discovery that shows that alterations in one's DNA can occur due to certain environmental factors. These genetic changes affect one's descendants. learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/epigenetics/Epigenetics may actually affect evolution. So evolution is more complex than we once believed. Epigenetics could potentially speed up the evolutionary process in a way. And of course we haven't watched humans evolve. We are humans and have such a short lifespan compared to the age of the planet.

Well, the Bible starts of with that God created the earth in 7 days. Many people argue that time for God is different. Indeed it is, but it makes sense that God is talking about 7 human week days, since He created the plants on the 3rd day, on day 4 he only created the sun and on day 5 only the animals. Many plants rely on animals to survive. So if these were thousands or billions of years between, many plants would have died. The Bible also records quite accurate the ages of many people in the Bible. In that way it's clear to see how many years passed between Adam and Eve and Jesus(about 4000). Add ca. 2013 to it and you end up with 6000 years(+7 day creation). There are many webpages out there explaining it better than I do though: e.g.: creation.com/6000-yearsAnd just to make it clear, I don't disbelief in evolution entirely. I disbelief the theory. I do believe in micro evolution(mutations, etc..) but not in macro evolution.

do you think teachers should teach creationism in schools (and should they abandon the teaching of evolution altogether)?

Hmm, well there is quite some scientific proof that backs creationism. They could teach both theories, since it's good to understand both.
